Stephanie Ford grew up around horses. At a young age, she
was in the show ring and rode the foothills of the San
Gabriel Mountains in southern California. She continued to show throughout
school and also worked several years as a wrangler and guide at a local stable.
After moving to Texas, she pursued a degree in Fine Art from Stephen F. Austin State University and also managed to earn a degree in History—another deep passion. She then received a Masters degree from Texas Woman’s University.
Stephanie is an active living historian and regularly volunteers with the Texas Historical Commission. Many of her works are historical in nature and she likes to use her favorite medium, scratchboard, to give the viewer a more intimate look at historic America. She focuses often on portraying the heroic tragedy of the South and the rough and pioneering spirit of the West.
Stephanie’s work has been in several major shows including the Bosque Art Classic and the Breckenridge Fine Art Center Show where she received the Lester and Virginia Clark Memorial Award.
Stephanie currently lives with her husband and daughter in Silver City, Texas where they raise beef cattle on several hundred acres.
